    The data represents freshwater withdrawals in cubic meters per square kilometers per year for irrigation in the Black Sea catchment circa 2000. Irrigation needs were obtained from the Global Crop Water Model (Siebert, S., & Döll, P. 2010. Quantifying blue and green virtual water contents in global crop production as well as potential production losses without irrigation. Journal of Hydrology, 384(3-4)) to which a country specific irrigation efficiency factor (Rohwer, J., Gerten, D., & Lucht, W. 2007.
